Nandankanan is situated a few kilometers away from Bhubaneswar. There is a zoo here. It is managed by the Forest Department. It is an interesting place. It attracts a large number of people every day. Last year I went there with my uncle. My younger brother also accompanied us.
I saw different animals inside the Zoo. Wild animals like lions, tigers and bears were kept in cages surrounded by big steel bars. Just at our sight, the wild animals roared. I was frightened when a leopard rushed at me. But it could not reach me as I was outside the cage.
The zebras, deer, and monkeys were moving freely in their places. I had never seen a crocodile before. A big crocodile was lying flat at the bank of a pond. I offered some nuts to a monkey. I threw them in. The monkey took them away and made faces at me. It was a wonderful experience.
There were a number of birds of different kinds. I saw the parrots, pigeons, peacocks, eagles, and a lot of other birds. They were flying happily from one corner to another. I was amused to see them. The twittering of the birds made the surroundings more natural.
Of all the animals and birds I liked the peacock very much. The peacock with its colorful feathers pleased me a lot. As it was my first visit to a zoo, I was greatly amazed. I had never seen most of such animals and birds. The model of the dinosaur placed in the middle of the park was very surprising.
I feel that students should visit different zoos so that they can know many things about the wonderful world of animals and birds. It will also give them pleasure and amusement.
